Join the pigeon dance

One Friday morning a week or so ago, I was sitting on our bed looking outside at the sheds in backyards and the roofs of other houses. There were a lot of pigeons. There was no clear rhythm in which they moved. They fluttered back and forth as if they were playing and dancing. I wondered what they were doing and what God wanted to say about it. Sometimes you feel that it is God who wants to make something clear.

I heard Him say ‘control’. I asked God: What do you want to say about it? In the hours that followed, God spoke about this pigeon dance while I was wallpapering and painting my daughter’s room.

Many speak of revival, many of God’s children sense that times are changing. God’s Spirit is moving! We see the beginnings of it and look forward for more!

If you desire to see God’s Spirit move, letting go of control is a key! Control has many facets and faces, so for each one of us to let go of control can mean something different.

Those many doves represent the many expressions of how the Holy Spirit wants to move. When you look at it you may see all kinds of expressions and there seems to be little order, but they are all pigeons. God the Father is so creative and has created thousands of characters, put thousands of desires in hearts. These characters and desires display His glory in a thousand times a thousand ways! But you have to let go of control. Let go of the idea that your way is the only or best way to show God’s glory. At the same time: let go of the fact that you have to be able and do everything. There are thousands of other pigeons! Join hands and strengthen each other!

Letting go of control also means that methods must disappear and that in their place a life in and through the Spirit must emerge. He has new anointing oil ready for this year, new wine for those who want to drink. He wants you to let go of control. He has freedom for you in His promises. His promises should be your anchor, not your systems of provision, not your religious practices, not your knowledge, not the number of years you have been a Christian. These things do not give you the right to go along with what the Spirit is doing. He wants you to be able to move freely. How do you know where to move? From an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Embark on the adventure!

For God’s church and leaders: Yes, God is raising His church and yes, old systems are crumbling; churches are torn apart for no apparent reason; meetings with religious forms no longer attract visitors, because God’s Spirit gives life and there is no life in religious actions. Religion kills the presence of God’s Spirit. God lets it happen because HE WANTS LIFE! He wants a church that is on fire for Him. He will ask many leaders to step back to make room for Him. He will ask many leaders to give confidence to those who long to see God’s Spirit moving. He is looking for leaders who dare to topple walls of religion and relinquish control. Leaders, would you like pigeons in a cage or pigeons that fly and do what they are made for?

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5&6

Activation: Open your hands and say: “Holy Spirit, I give myself to You; my body is Your temple. I hand over the  control to You. Point out where there are still walls of religion, where I am afraid to let go of control. Thank you that you can be trusted and that you love me. Here I am to say yes to the adventure with  You. Amen.”
