Golden Seeds [dream] by Marjet Hoogendoorn

A few days ago I had a dream.
My daughter and I were in a river. The river was flowing quite fast and we let ourselves be carried away by the river. We weren’t the only ones, there were a lot of people in the river. A wide variety of people.
At one point there was unrest among the people. People were screaming and trying to get away from something in the middle of the river: a huge whirlpool. The whirlpool was so big and turned so fast that the water looked white.
I knew there was nowhere I could go to avoid the whirlpool, so I held my daughter close and let the whirlpool carry me along. We were pulled underwater and went meters underwater in crystal clear water. We went very deep. But we were completely at peace, because we knew God would bring us through. Somehow we could even enjoy this exciting adventure a little. There was nothing in us that was afraid. Indeed we emerged from the other side of the whirlpool completely intact and without any difficulty in breathing. We had made a lot of progress in the river, while we saw others still struggling and trying not to be sucked into the whirlpool.
Then I woke up and the voice of God rang in my spirit: “Take advantage of the storm!”
Earlier this week I listened to a voice message from a dear friend. She had been through a tough time, and people had advised her to adjust her circumstances so that life would be more comfortable for her. But she knew she was in the storm for a reason. She knew she had to use the storm to strengthen her faith.
I believe God is saying through this dream: When you get into a whirlpool or a storm, trust Him that He knows what He is doing! Use those times to build your faith. Use it to train your discernment! Use it to test your heart! Use it to become more steadfast in what God promises, in His Word and what you receive from Him in your time with Him!
Think again of the people who tried with great fear and struggle to swim around the whirlpool. Who is ultimately more at peace? Who had to let go of control, but came out stronger? Who ended up going faster through the river? I believe that the river in the dream represents spiritual growth. Whirlpools can seem scarry, we may even think we can’t handle it, but the whirlpools make us spiritually strong!
Take advantage of the storm!
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 [niv]
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. Isaiah 43:2 [nlt]
